i recently did my first attempt at homemade concrete mix rock, using some tips that i read about. have to admit, came out pretty o.k., except the dull gray just didn't do much for me. so i had an idea of dripping some food coloring on it,letting it dry, and then soaking. it really looks great, as the colors softened and muted a bit. was wondering if this would be safe for fowr tank. currently soaking in salt water, probably for another week or so.

yeah, i figured, but at least it gets it off to a bit of a start. been soaking for about a week, and most fading occured in the first day

Isn't there some sort of coloring additive for concrete? I know I've seen the reddish brown color at Lowes.

This stuff was a powder in a bottle...we used it once to do some stepping stones...but I have no idea what it is...could very well be harmful.

persoanly, i would not be used colourings on the rock...You dont know how long its gonna be before it starts to leach into the water, and again, you also dont know what effects that could have on fish, inverts and coral..Not worth the risk for me..
