View Full Version : Good book on cichlids?
Hi I'm new to alot of this and have just 2 very small yellow lab cichlids. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good book that might provide info as to alot of the different cichlid species, how big they can get, their aggresiveness levels, and perhaps something about their desired living condiotns... a book that also includes other freshwater fish or even beyond that would be great. thank you for the recommendations.

Ad Konings has written a number of good books on Rift Lake cichlids. The volumes of the Baensch Atlas are also very informative.
Also, you can go to the link below and see a prior discussion that will give you a number of ideas for reading material. Good luck.

Probably the best book you can get that covers a wide variety of fish and subjects is The Cichlid Aquarium by Paul Loiselle.

I was at Barnes and Noble bookstore. I found this very interesting book on fish. The book gives you the name of the fish, common and scientific name. Give you detail of the fish temperment, water temperature, pH, what they eat, behavior, breeding...very interesting. Right now it is going on sale for $24.99. I'm planning to get one myself at barnes and noble website.
