My convict has laid eggs and I'm wondering if i should remove the pot she laid them in and raise them and feed them myself or just let her do her thing.

If its best that i leave them in place then how do i go about feeding them once they're hatched?

Thanks for all the help I've gotten so far!

I'd say leave them. My Cons spawned and in the end only 5 of them are still surviving.

Leave the eggs. Convicts are prolific breeders and they take care of there fry for the most part. They should hatch in about 3 or so days.

Yea I prefer leaving them there as well. I'm just wondering, once they've hatched and have eaten their yolks, how do I feed them?

I read powered food is good but seeing as they'll be at the very bottom of the tank i don't see how the powder would get to them.

Any advice on how to go about feeding them?

I fed my tank like normal, as they grow, they go after the little scraps of food. You feed flakes?

Yes i feed flakes because that what my cons seem to love, every now and then a few pellets but they don't really seem interested in them.

Will the mother give the fry some food? The male eats like 80% of the food as soon as it gets in there.

Yes. The parents will scoop some food and spit them into bits to a shoal of fry.

Good luck.:)

Cons are great parents. Leave the eggs with them, they will do a better job than you can. I used some Dried BBS at first, once the yolk sacks had diminished. Then move on to powdered flake. The parents will stir up the bottom to release small food particles for the babies, its a beautiful thing to watch. Also, cons are mouth brooders so do not be afraid if it appears that they are 'eating' the babies. They are just rounding them up and keeping them clean. Good luck, I just love cons!!

just leave them in there like everyone allready said. you can feed them baby brine shrimp, but thats alot of unneccisary work. i occasionally feed mine powdered fry food or crushed flake and stuff, or if i drop in a shrimp pellet the father grinds it up and spits it at them, but this also makes a mess of the tank. they should be fine the way they are now. awesome pictures by the way

Leave them if you want fry if not remove them.

Thanks a lot! I'm going to Petsmart today so I'll pick up some sinking pellets and brine shrimp. Thanks everybody!
