Hey what up i have 30 gallon tank pretty well planted with about 8 swordtail in it and i was wondering if it would be all right to put some blue rams in there with them as long as it has alot of plants for them to hide.

Actually the rams will be the boss of the tank, they are aggressive to a certain degree.

Those should fit nice in there.
You want a low PH for them though.

Hey somefinnfishy, I'm in Omaha, too.
There's actually a good shop in Ralston called Charlie's Angels. I usually go there for unique fish. That's where I got my Ray. They're a bit expensive, especially if you want your every day run of the mill kind of fish, but they do have a good selection and Charlie will trade fish.

Also, check out Microgeophagus altispinosa aka "Bolivian Ram". They look extrememly similar to the blue or german rams, only they are not so sensitive to water conditions. In my opinion they have a little more personality. Either way, rams would be a nice addition to your tank.

You shouldn't have any problems with aggression from the Rams. They're not very aggressive even when spawning. They mainly chase with the occassional nip. They also normally in the bottom half of the tank. They do prefer soft acidic water.

As for Blue and Bolivian Rams looking similar, well.

Bolivian Rams are much hardier and have twice the personality than the Blues. They do very well in neutral water. Bolivians also get a little larger and aren't as aggressive as Blues. The only drawback I know of is sexing them if you want a pair.
