bare with me..im new to the snail rhelm....

i got me a golden mystery snail the other day. the first day in the tank he roamed around a bit. next day moved around less and yesterday pretty much found him a spot and stayed there. this morning...same place...this afternoon..same place. i also noticed that he was a fraction of the way out during this time...not even 1/4" i would say. so just now i decided to check on him to make sure he was ok. I picked him and noticed that he went all the way back in. so i figured he was still alive and put him back down on the gravel. a few minutes later, he crawled over to another plant.

at least i know he is alive. so what is a normal behavior pattern for one these guys? he hasn't ate any of the little bit of algae waffer i put in for him. i do have several plants and some algae growing.

thx

It is very normal for that type of snail to 'play dead' for a few days. They even float at the top of the tank too.

The easiest way to check if your snail is dead is, take it out of the tank and smell it. If it has a strong bad oder, it's dead.
