:bowing: i have a 55 gallon with a pair of pink convicts (one is a normal pnk and the other a jelly bean), 3 black convicts, and 2 firemouths.
i also added a yellow lad that has fry in her mouth.
the yellow lab is doing fine i am going to take her fry out of her mouth to put into 25 gallon fish tnak but my question is this

i have two firemouth i just recently bought the male. he had 5 days in the tank and he wants to mate with the female but i dont know why she dosent mate with him. i have a cave ready for them but they wont take it.. do i have to buy other firemouths or are they going to eventually mate:nilly: :bowing:

I think your tank is overcrowded with aggresive fish. There might be too much action going on in your tank for the female FM to feel comfortable enough to lay eggs. Just wait until your convicts pair up and start breeding. There's going to be a turf war going on in your tank. Plus you have a female lab with eggs! Yikes!

for the FireMouths to spawn, you need to take out a couple of the fish in the tank. i agree the tank is a bit crowded right now. The female may not want to spawn yet because of how new the male is, and are you sure you got male/female FireMouths?

Speaking of, my pair of FireMouths had fry about 3/4 weeks ago, and are spawning again. So believe me once you get the right amount of fish in the tank, and water parameters just right FireMouths can be as bad as Convicts when it comes to spawning. Normally my FireMouths would only spawn once or twice a year, and they are now spawning almost once a month.
