?about midas temprment and color

about what size will my midas start to bang the glass,and when will they get there perment colors. iam hoping for a yellow one but they are all kinda orange red. at 2 inches one seems to have a small tint of yellow on it.

As for color nothings really certain. I know once they get around 6 or 7 inches the color stays. If you want a yellow Midas I would feed it less "color enhancing foods" like shrimp or anything with Carotene. Temperment is variable, usually worse among LFS Midas's. Eventually when they reach sexual maturity they should bulk up and be more pissed.

I got a 5 inch or so midas... he has been mean since like 3 inches or so. He will make me bleed EVERY time he bites me.. cleaning his tank is a chore, we tried holding him in a net and he just bit the net, you have to ward him off with the siphon. It really depends on what you have in with him, I put a Jack Dempsey bigger than him in with him and he was timid and scared. Then when I took the fish away he became very aggressive.... flaring gills... killing fish.. fighting reflection. doesn't have much of a bump yet... but I am sure he will get it soon. If you want him mean, just leave him by himself... that's what I did.

Also I put a little african that cycled like 3 tanks and then I threw him in with the midas... That is probrably what made him the most angry... put a dither fish in with your midas:) a giant danio or something....BTW the african is gone now...:)

i have 4 pure breed midas and a petsmart rd/midas. it seem that the rd/midas is the most aggresive. i have one of my midas isloted with some african hes the boss of that tank buti really dont feed him carotene high foods and thats the one with the tint of yellow tint.but is a that a guaranteed way to make them yellow.i was hoping one would rise out of the four and start whipping all the rest that how was going to decide witch one to keep.but they all just seem cool and run from the rd/midas mix but i have one that grew extremly faster thn the others i think the only reason the devil has it on the run cause the devils bigger.

Erics midas is a ***** lol. That is just the most aggressive fish I have ever met. As soon as you walk in the room it begins its attack. It will attack anything. Really a cool fish.
