I got this Power-glo 24'' 20 watt light to fit in the proper hood for my tank. (right now im using a 15watt 15'' or so from my 10g) anyways, i put it in the hood, and find out the hood is bad. So do i have to buy a new hood(the thing that holds the balb) and a new cover for the tank (the thing the hood sits on)?
Also what kind of life can a 20watt support? such as corals or mushrooms. My friend that works at the lfs said i could get a anemone. they are 10$ and are a awesome pink color

Your tank is too new for an anemone. Remind me what size tank this is and of your specs?

sorry to say you can't support mushroom on that wattage. you could get a feather duster or sun coral - or any non-photosynthetic coral though.

20 watts isn't good for too much. I did keep some hardy mushrooms under a 20w lamp years and years ago, but they weren't the healthiest and hardly grew any. I couldn't remotely recommend anything else. The anemone advice is suspect, as that is woefully inadequate for any of the normally kept photosynthetic anemones--that definitely won't work. The pink color also has me concerned as to whether or not it has been dyed that color.

I've seen some tubes that color but certainly not a newbie animal and not under 20 watts.

I know i cant have like a gardon or anything lol. I just want one, or two max for the clowns to host, i know you cant force them, but i would like them to be there. I also like the way they look.
Anyone know about replacing hoods? how much they cost and such?

Even one anemone needs good lighting. If you're serious about keeping one I'd start saving for T5s with individual reflectors or a MH. And I'd wait until your tank is at least 6 months old.
