I don't have a saltwater tank but after a trip to the LFS today I realllly wish I did. I saw this really cool fish, it had "horns", looked kind of prehistoric, had a box-like shape to it and was bright yellow....i forget what its called though. Any ideas?

lol thats funny. When I had only freshwater tanks I noticed that saltwater fish too. It was at my LFS and looked pretty large and happy. Looked like it would add a lot of personality to a tank. Too bad about its requirements/habbits though.

Yep thats the one! WOW it gets big, guess thats marked off of the future saltwater stocking list haha. There was another fish that was cool, it was some kind of goby I think. It seemed to stay on the tank floor and was red/hot pinkish, very cool looking. And then there was another fish that I've seen before and do think its a more common fish to put in a tank (not the Nemo fish haha). I'll see if I can find pics.

The other I was talking about is a Coral Beauty or something like that. And the goby I'm still not sure what it was called, pretty sure definitely a goby though cause it looked like a saltwater version of a mudskipper..but colorful!

The cowfish longhorn is a cute fish and are very small when born put they get big, and when stressed or dies it secrets a toxin in the water that will kill all of your fish. Best left to the experts
in an aquarium they dont get that big
Sure about that? I hear they do get to about 18" +

As suggested by hondamx; The fish in the original post sure sounds like the cowfish longhorn (yellow boxfish). Read the warnings that F&S have--this fish really needs to be kept by itself; if it croaks, it can take the whole tank along with it.

everyone i talk to says they stay smaller in an aquarium even large ones. they only reach their full size in the ocean. unless some one owns one and knows different

Yes,the Cowfish will get very large in an aquarium and can be very toxic, best left in the ocean,IMO.At the least, left to expert care,or dedicated tank.

Don't get me wrong I'm not gonna go out and buy that Cowfish Longhorn, just saying its COOOOOL. Haha I don't even have a saltwater tank and won't until way after that fish is sold i'm sure.

This fish? Ya, definately cool fish but as stated, hard to keep. I had mine for about 18 months which I hear is a long time in a tank, living with a porcupine puffer. Knowing what I do now I definately wouldn't buy another no matter how cool they look. Some fish really should be left in the wild and box fish are one of them.
