live rock, dead coral.. does dead coral become liverock?

I'm a little confused.. Likely a stupid question but does dead coral become live rock -or is live rock dead coral that has become infested with living organisms? What will happen to the dead coral in my tank, I assume it will become beneficial in some way over time? Thanks

yes you are correct

any live rock you have in your tank along with dead coral will seed the dead coral in time and that too will become live :)
