When I feed my cichlids (I give them new life spectrum pellets), the bigger fishes (rusty and clown afras) eat pretty much everything before it hits bottom tank where the smaller fishes are (pearlmutts and labs) so they don't get to eat as much.

Any tips on how to fix this?

Also, I feed them twice a day, they seem to eat a whole lot, is that normal? They're juvies btw, around 3/4 to an inch.

Maybe use some sinking pellets at the same time...?

Distract them in one area with their foods and pour sinking pellets on the opposite side for the smaller ones.

you may want to use a small piece of plastic pipe to 'tunnel' some food directly down to the bottom while you feed the ones who like to eat on the top. the lower-dwelling fish will soon recognize the tube.

I already feed them the new life spectrum cichlid pellets. I will try the diversion.

They eat so much it's incredible, I feed them some sinking pellets then give them some spirulina flakes in the evening with a bit of pellets to vary the diet. I keep forgetting there's 16 fishes in there, so one pinch is like only 1 pellet per fish so I have to feed them a few pinches.

What about those little round things that attaches itself to the tank glass? Could I buy those and put one of these at the bottom for the little fellows while i feed the bigger guys on top?

I feed new life. You can 'throw' it in a bit more vigorously than a sprinkle and it will sink down to the fish at the bottom. Put in a bit on one side, then another bit on the other etc. etc. The greedy fish will zip around trying to have it all but this should let everyone get a nibble.

I just have to find a way for my yellow labs to eat. They won't eat flakes nor pellets right now, they used to eat the flakes before.

If the fish is hungry, they will eat. The fish will find food. Dont worry about it.

Found one yellow lab lying dead in the sand substrate, he looked healthy and like usual and I have one missing.

The 2 others won't eat at all even though they look healthy.

I can't find the other one missing wich worries me, I don't want to have a dead fish in there.
