can you buy tank frames by themselves?
I would like to get a frame with a center brace for my 35 gallon, since it doesnt have one and the glass bows like crazy.
Ive put in a DIY brace using screws, and im not sure if the plastic will hold up to the stresses put on it.
the screws are small, and attatched to the inner lip. you can see the plastic bulging... but for now, its holding.
the other problem is the hood rests on top of the brace, which does prevent the brace from being pulled in an upward bowing manner, but still adds more stresses.
so, long story short, can I buy a frame somewhere with a brace already in it, for my tank?

Can you use 1.5" strips of glass placed along the sides of the tank and across the middle?

no, id rather it be a black plastic frame.... besides my lid requires the frame :)

this is what my frame currently looks like with the addition of the center brace.....again, only this time with small *** screws.
I dont like this, it looks ugly and unprofessional, not only that it seems like the plastic will give out someday.....soon.
So, I guess I will contact some companies.
glasscages frame doesnt seem to match mine. my frames dimensions (measured from the outside) are 12 1/2" x 36 3/16"
loaches r cool

Personally that pic looks fine to me, looks 'creative'. But I agree the small amount of plastic yet isnt a lot of support around the screws. But if you like the black plastic tank frame so much better and are willing to replace the whole thing than go for it.

I have a 150 with broken frames...I pulled them all off and cleaned the glass really well. I'm going ot buy some angle aluminum and weld up some frames with 2 center braces. Of course, this is only an option if you own/have access to a mig/tig welder...

I have access to such tools.... Id be wary of putting metal against the glass. But I could line it with some rubber weather stripping or something... thats not a bad idea actually.
I just think it would be easier and better if I could just buy a frame.
I contacted miracles, and their frames are meant to fit a tank that is 12-7/16" x 35-15/16", my tank measures 12 3/16" x 36"

It'd probably be cheaper to buy another tank if you're going to purchase the frame.. you can probably find another 35 for dirt cheap off of craigslist..

then what would i do with this currently setup, not yet cycled, tank if i were to buy another one.
I cant imagine setting up another one just because of the frame. If I can buy a frame, i can at least install it without emptying the tank.
