I have 6 discus in a community tank. Over the last 3 to 4 months I have been doing a fishless Cycle using medium from my existing tank. The water in both tanks test the same 0 amonia 0 nitrates and Ph at 6.2 and has been for 2 months. Water temp 30 degrees C. I have raised these discus for 5 years now from 1" when first brought home, now they are 8" and 2 of them have paired off and keep trying to spawn on the side of the tank with no sucess as they get interupted by the other fish in the tank. The second tank is a 50 gal tank and I am hoping to move these two into this tank and let nature take its course. In short what do I have to do to make sure that the discus are sucessful. Are their any good web sites that I could visit. Any and all help appreciated.

Cheers

Have you been to...

www.simplydiscus.com

Not sure why you have been fishless cycling for 3 or 4 months, using media transfer...? How are you keeping the bacteria alive...ammonia, fish food....?

Why not just move them over with some media now...?

I have been using fish food, cycle and water changes. The reason I have not moved them is not the quality of the tank but as stated I would like some more information before putting them in the tank. At the moment it is just bare.

A bare tank is great for breeding discus. If you go to the website posted they will be able to answer all of your questions.
