well today is a bad day for the tank....i came home from a 3 day weekend in the mountains and i was really worried about my sump and evaporation...so as soon as i pulled in the parking lot i ran to my room to make sure that it didnt evaporate to much (i filled it up a little higher then normal to account for the problem) but i was worried so i ran to my room and everything looked good other then this rediculous noise....i thought it was like a rattling fan or something..so after searching around the tank i saw what i thought was a featherduster looking thing hanging out of one of my PH's...well i turned the PH off and the noise stopped....uh uh....yup im sure you already know...my yellow head sleeper goby:jaw-dropping: ......all jacked up ....i have no clue what happened to him:huh: , why he was there or what...its a maxijet 600 so its not like he just randomly got sucked up there...i just dont know...everything else in the tank looks good...at least as far as i can tell...i left the lights off the whole time so some of my algea problem has gone away....but hey i guess on the bright side i got my ten gallon back from the gf so im gonna set that up:rolleyes:

It sounds like it died and then was sucked up into the power head, that would be my guess. Was your PH on the bottom of the tank? because as you know they are bottom dwellers. Sorry about your lose though.

Well, with the maxijets, he could have been dead or alive and still be sucked in. They have such a small surface area to pull water from that it makes a very strong suction in the vicinity. If the goby got careless, it easily could have gotten sucked in. That is why I recommend using the cylindrical screen that comes with the maxijets. It also disperses the suction over a larger area, therefore decreasing it a bit, as well.
