White film on glass, equipment

I filled my tank with Catalina pre-mixed real ocean water on Thursday. I started running my Aqua C Remora skimmer, Koralia powerhead, and 150W heater at the same time.

As of Friday afternoon, or the next day, the water looked as clear as any water can look. I went out of town and just got back tonight. Now my glass has a white film all over it and the equipment has it too.

The power apparently went out for a few hours today and it has been unbelievably hot here in SoCal. Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Keep in mind there is nothing alive in the tank. Also, everything was thoroughly washed before I put it in the tank.

It is really annoying and looks horrible. I can scrape the stuff off, but I want to know what it is so it doesn't keep coming back. It also looks like it snowed at the bottom of the tank. There are a pretty good amount of little white flakes. Thanks everybody!

Sounds like calcium fallout. It is caused by the CA level being too high or the Buffer level is too high.

Did you add any chemicals/additives to the water?

I didn't add a single thing to the tank. When I scrape it off the glass, it just floats around in little flakes and makes the water cloudy.

This is a freshwater forum, sounds to me like you are referring to a salt water issue. -> sorry for stating the obvious.
