20 g tank cycle first sw

i have been cycling my tank for 1.5 weeks now and the stats at the satrt of the week were:
amm 1.5
nitrit .50
nitrate 0
ph 8.0

today they are as follows
amm 0
nitrie 0
nitrate 20
ph 8

do u think i can add 2 clown fish now safely??
is the cycle finished

Have you done any water changes? Did the ammonia ever get over 1.5? And even if the cycle finished early I'd still give the pod population time to establish itself and give the tank 4 weeks before fish. But, you can set-up your QT tank and put the clowns in it and then they'll be ready for the display tank when it is ready.

i agree, set up a 10 or 15g QT and put the clowns in there, get them eating, then they are good for the display when it is ready.

Although, i dont really see a reason for the first fish to be QT'ed other than the display isnt ready yet.

One reason not to is if the first fish is sick you won't infect your display and you'll not have to catch it again for treatment outside the display.

Wait a few days, if the levels stay the same, (ammonia 0 nitires 0 and nitrates around 20-30ish)

then your ready to add some clowns. Make sure you add your fish slowly so you wont over do your bio-load.
