does nitraban really reduce the nitrates in aquarium water with biweekly 50% water changes?

Just do more water changes to lower nitrate levels...this is the best way to keep them in check.

Personally I do not like to add things to my tank unless absolutely necessary, and from what you say it says to do the water changes alone would lower your nitrate level, the more Wc's the better your water will be:grinyes:
BTW: are you having problems with your Nitrate levels?

as long as your tank isnt OS, weekly water changes should be fine at keeping nitrates in check, especially if your tank is planted.

I've used API Nitra-Zorb in the past...which did a great job at keeping Nitrate levels in check (10 - 20ppm), but at the end of the day you still have to do consistent PWC!

I'd just go with more water changes. Btw, does your tap have nitrates?
