Convict Cichlid

my convict cichlid wont eat the feeder dish i bought it. he has made friends with them and sometimes chases them around. he wont eat cichlid food. the only thing he eats is blood worms and not very enthused about it

what can i do? :confused:

Cons don't eat other fish. They only try to kill what they deem a threat to their fry.

My Cons eat anything I throw in the tank, even MTS. They love flake,food sticks,shrimp pellets,pretty much everything except freeze dried krill.

I dont know if this is a bad thing, but I have fed my cons krill and they love it.

hes about 4 inches big.. hes not too small for the cichlid foods. in fact the food is pretty small compared to his big mouth

what about mixing the food with some crushed garlic to stimulate his appetite.

ok, do i buy thr crushed garlic? or do i buy whole garlic and crush it myself?

you can crush fresh garlic and make a paste of it with the food..they also sell a garlic extract at the lfs but its very expensive. Use the garlic sparingly (a slice of a clove) so as to not foul your water. I use the back of a spoon and smash it up and then mix it in. I have heard if you use jarred garlic the "oil" in the jar works well too. Make sure the food absorbs the garlic (looks moist) before you drop it in to the tank and that the chunks aren't too large for your fish. Good luck.

Nothing wrong with it, mine just don't like them.

If all else fails, don't feed it for 2 or 3 days.

i might be getting rid of him due to aggressiveness. its terrorizing my green terror and female con.
