So my boss gave me a 29 gallon for free with several other odds and ends that went along with it, he just wanted rid of it. Yay me I'm on 2 free 29 gallon tanks now! :perv:

My Electric Yellows needed a home of their own with more hiding places and to get them away from my corys so all their eggs would stop being cichlid snacks :wall:

I cleaned the tank best I could, but there were still stains on the outside of the back that I couldn't get to come off. I tried vinegar, Mr Clean Magic Erasers, rough scrubbing pads and still it wouldn't even start to come off. But hey it was free and I can live with it.

Cut a yoga mat down to sit under the tank

Measured and cut eggcrate to go in as the base

Lots of free slate rock from the creek close to my house, was washed and scrubbed in hotttttt water.

Base rocks places to bring the level up high enough so I could make the sand fairly deep.

After stacking and figuring out how to get the pieces of lava rock to make the overall stack stable.....I hope

To get the tank cycled up I used a big clump of filter floss from another filter, and let the tank sit a couple days while adding MTS that I'd catch from my other 29. The mother EY was added first, to let her drop the fry she was already carrying and in hopes she could claim the best hiding places to keep Big Daddy from bothering her as much. After 2 days with the lights being off most of the time she finally let go of the fry :headbang2: This is her biggest batch yet. Pretty soon I'm going to have to figure out what I'm going to do with all the extras

Not to bad in my opinion, but I couldnt stand the blue tint of that bulb so I grabbed a new one before I left work this morning.

I tried to get some more fish pictures and shots of the 15 or so fry hiding under the right hand bottom slate, but my camera hates me and all the close up pictures of them always end up out of focus or really washed out from how bright they are.
