I am wondering what the best tempature for a community tank would be. I am stocked with a pair of German Blue Rams (the prized fish in this tank), a school of 13 neon Tetras, a trio of Neon Zebra Danios, a trio of guppies, 4 Cories and 4 Oto's. I was told the Rams like a range of 82 - 84 degrees. I did bring my tank up to 81 and noticed one of the danios spending a lot of time at the top of the tank as if needing more air. I am not sure if it was this or not as he/she seems fine today.

Maybe the better question is at what tempurature does it start to get difficult for the fish to get oxygen out of the water?

Average tank temp is 75-78* only reason you need a higher temp say around 82* is when treating for the ich disease.

the rams like it hotter and the neons can handle it too. i would say go with around 80-81, and drop the water level a little bit so there is more surface agitation and more oxygen exchange.

with higher temps means less O2 in the water. danios require alot of O2 because they are so fast and hyperactive.

mine reach 82º in the summer, but are usually around 78-79º in the winter.

Adding air stone to create more surface agitation should help increase oxygen.Rams do better at 79/ 82/,but will survive at 78 --84.

Due to the summer heat here in Florida my tank is 80-82F (hit 84F for a couple days) and my danios died, but everyone else seems to be doing very well in the warmer water.

If you keep the temperature in the tank at or around 78 degrees on the farenheight scale most all of the fish will be fine and the oxygen levels will not be depleted.
