75 gallon aquarium with 1/2 inch thick glass & stand Emperor 400 filter
Maxijet 400 powerhead
Magnum 250 canister filter
2 Whisper air pumps
150 watt Marineland heater

It's selling for 200 used. Why is there an emperor, maxijet and canister filer? Do I need all three to set up this tank properly, or are they just throwing it in for variety? The stand is nice, too. It has cabinets underneath, and I can;t seem to find a better deal.

Depending on the fish you get, you'll need all those filters in order to overfilter. This is in case the fish you get contribute a very large bioload.;)

Sounds like a good deal, and if you don't need all the filters, one could go on another tank. Or you'd have a spare if one quits working.

i personally run two emperor 400's on each of my 55g tanks. there's nothing wrong with overfiltering as long as the current doesn't cause trouble for the fish. not only does having multiple filters give you a backup in case one system fails, it also gives you enough extra filter material to quickly cycle any additional tanks you get. when you have a canister, powerheads are good for adding surface movement so there is a large amount of oxygen in the water.

150 watts of heating may not be enough for that tank if it gets cold in your house in winter

an emperor 400 by itself probably wont be able to filter the tank enough, but after you add the mag and powerhead it should be fine.

Conspicuously absent is the lighted hood. Fish can and do jump right out if you don't have a cover on the tank. For esthetics you will want some kind of light and if you plan to have live plants you will want a lot of light. If these are not included, you could face significant expenses for the cover and lights.
