I just bought 3 pearlscale goldfish from superpetz and last night I notice that 2 of them had the salt grain (ick) and 1 of them was fine (the smallest and cutest). I started this morning the treatment with the salt and raising the temp on the aquarium (36gal) and now the only pearlscale that was fine is dead???? How this happened, she seemed fine, was swiming happy and a few hours after the salt and raising the temp my baby is dead.....I'm so sad today is my birthday!!!! This is not supposed to happen to me today!!!
I raised the temp from 75 to 78 and slowly added 1 teasp of salt per gallon (mixed with their water).

what sort of salt are you using? aquarium salt, regular salt, or sea salt?
the only salts you should use in fw aquaria are the aquarium salts made specifically for freshwater.
also, did you even cycle the filter?
sorry you had that on your birthday :(
I wonder have you checked out the info on cycling a tank at all ?

You can use table salt to treat ich, thats fine and in fact the most effective method I have ever used. You just want to try and stick with canning or pickling salt because it doesn't have iodide in it. How quickly did you add the salt and how much did you add? Also, did you cycle? What are your Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels at?
Stress can also be part of the problem. Did you buy your fish, moved them to their new tank, changed the temp. and added salt all in the same day or at least one soon after another?
