unless the tank is massively huge, i don't think you'll be able to get the water clear. . . koi are messy fish which get very very large and should be kept in ponds with at least 80-100g per fish. they are not suitable for keeping in a tank.

o well i dont have much money so i can buy or make a place for them and they were cheap anyway....how much do regular small size koi cost anyway?

i don't think it matters how much they cost - they're living creatures. if you can't properly house them, it would be better to find them a new home than to let them die. you could advertise them on craigslist, a local paper, or see if an LFS would take them. i know that a lot of people return koi at the end of the season if their pond is not deep enough for the fish to live through the winter in it. you just have to find a place that takes them back.

the cost of the fish means nothing as to their ability to survive somewhere, and i for one do not like the idea of cutting a living things life short (possibly by a decade) so that it can be housed in an environment that is unsuitable for it.

how big is the tank?
what are the water params?

i would advise taking any koi which are in the tank and removing them immediately if you cannot provide the space to care for them. take them back to the place you bought them if possible or see if you can drop them off at a lfs.

well im keeping them cause they are fed well and live well so what if they arent in the right tank size they are well taken care of just not the tank so because i dont have money for a pond i should give them to someone or place and so in petsmart they dont have a tank in a good size for them inst that the same idea?

So you bought them to save them from the terrible LFS?

holy crap man well my mom bought them cause she thought it looked good but when i checked the water it came with it was TERRIBLE! they kept 450 2-3 inche kois in a 150 gallon tank.....and yet there were 8 or 9 other fish that was about 4 feet long in the SAME tank......
