Hi,I"m new to this forum! I inherited this tank from my father when he passed awya in June. I beleive it to be 45-47 gallons. It has 6 Large angelfish,an iridescent shark, 2 red fin sharks, and a few other smaller fish. There seems to be 2 pairs however only one has laid eggs. Since I've had the tank this pair has had babaies once before., they made it to about the second stage where they have waving tails but still on the rock. I would like to see at least a few survive this time. The eggs were layed around 3pm todaY. Ive though about taking the pair and their eggs out and putting them in 16 gallon tank. However i think i saw the father eating quite a few of them today. There is a larger malein the tank who was the bad guy last time, and the biggest destroy of the spawn, now it seems he is just hanging out there with the parnets waiting for them to become good to eat. Should I take out the whole rock? Could i scrape a few eggs off and put them in the other tank?will it drive the parents crazy if i take the rock out? how should i transport these fish from tnak to tank? THANKS ALL!!!:headbang2:

Remove the rock containing all the eggs. Place it in a tank free from fish. Place an airstone beside the site where the eggs have been laid. This will keep the eggs free from debris. Dose methylene blue to prevent fungus from developing over the eggs. Don't be surprised if most eggs turn white. They're simply infertile. No need to remove the parents.

you an do as Lupin says

You also could move the rock and parents in that order to the new tank angels are great parents. They will look after them they pick out the bad eggs and fan and protect them.

you could also leave them in the tank and remove them once they become free swimmers

Here is a link to a 1 hr pod cast that you should listen to http://www.***********.com/shows_special/breeding_fish/breeding_pet_fish.htm

either way you will need to get ready to hatch baby brine shrimp for this size spawn you can do what I do start with San Francisco BBS for the first week they are the smallest BBS. Than you can move to the cheaper larger Salt lake BBS.
I hatch them in three wide mouth mason jars stager the start one for am one for noon one for pm. I use 2 table spoons of sea salt (must be) 1/8 th teaspoon of eggs. with an air line in each jar plus 2 or three hole to let the air to escape.
You have around 7 days till you will need to start feeding the free swimmers.

If this is only their 2 spawn you will be lucky to have any to raise up it takes around 4 till they get it right

good luck this is the most fun you can have with your fish IMHO
