GBR's and YoYo loaches

For the first time last night My two paired GBR's were spawning and along came my loaches and started going after the eggs. The rams were going after the two loaches ferociously and the loaches never backed off. I caught the two loaches and put them in my qt tank and will be trading them in today for store credit. I've just never seen a fish get attacked like those rams were going after the loaches and the loaches were acting like it was nothing.

You want to count your lucky stars it wasn't kribs guarding the eggs. They would have killed the loaches no problem. That goes for anything in the cichlid world too. They will guard there eggs and fry to the death no matter what size the cichlid is. :)

Loaches love to eat fish eggs and fry. :(

All cichlids will certainly defend their fry and territory ferociously.;) Loaches are quite brave enough to get a free egg meal and will certainly not stop in their attempts to try retrieving the eggs successfully.
