Snail in my AC 30 intake...

So before bed last night I glanced at my tank, and noticed my mystery snails whole body was being sucked into the intake of my AC 30, so I turned the filter off, and helped him out...

This morning my other snail was stuck, and I have no idea for how long. Still not sure if he is alive....

time for a sponge over the intake....

Perhaps they're trying to perform liposuction on themselves?
 
It was weird for it to happen one right after the other.... It's not like the second one saw it and thought it looked like a good idea... silly inverts.
 
Is the most plentiful food source (algae) in your intake? Clean the intake and I doubt they'll return. Also, how big are the snails and is there a cover of any type on the intake?
