So some of you may have seen my thread, Help i lost my Clown.. Well i lost him and some corals too, to a unknown reason... But i think i may have solved it...
Should the heater get hot enough to melt the plastic holders that suction cup it to the tank??? Here is a pic...
I think it messed up and shorted or something...
Let me know what you guys think...

Yes that is not good, what was the temperature in the tank?
Heaters should not reach that high a temperature that can melt the clips. What was the temperature you set on the heater? Do you have a thermometer in your tank to monitor the temperature?
The melted plastic clip could have released some toxin into your water. I do advise you to do some water change and use activated carbon to help improve the water condition.

82-84 is not going to cook your tank. What do you normally keep the temp at?
Whatever heater you buy next defiantly put it on a temperature controller.

hmmm could be a possiblity that the suctions let go, and the heater fried up at the top of the tank.... and maybe the melted plastic toxins killed the fish

how low down did you have the suction cups on the heater? If it was near the end of the tube, I might see why that would happen.... as discussed, I would do some water changes and think about getting a new heater.

Well heres some new news!
I found my fish!!! After a week i found him in the overflow....
The thermometer was still underwater when i found my tank... My thermometer is always set at 74... so it must have malfunctioned....
