Hello Folks! This is my introductory post on your lovely forums. I am looking forward to learning a lot from you all and I delve deeper into the wonderful world of FISHES!
My love of fish started when I was really young. My uncle had a pair of 100 gallon reef tanks and I remember just sitting and staring at them whenever i was at his house. When I was 10 my parents got me a 15 gallon tank for my birthday. I had fancy goldfish and I think a pleco. At the lfs they called it an "algae eater." Anyway he got HUGE and my mom made me sell him back. After 4 years or so all the fish had died (we had funeral services for each fish including coffins decorated with fresh flowers, No flushing for me!..still have the grave yard at my 'rents)
I stopped keeping fish during the majority of my teen years. However, in the late summer of '05 I went to a carnival at a local fire station. They had one of those carts that you threw the ball into the fish bowl and you could win a fish. I was APPALLED. So of course I had to save at least one fish from going home with a grubby handed kid who wouldn't feed it then the mom would flush it. So I rescued one goldfish. He started out an 1 1/2" long. He is now about 7 1/2 inches long and has outgrown his first tank. Fish-Fish is our baby.
I am preparing to start a 75 gallon planted freshwater tank. I will have TONS of questions, so please bear with me. I look forward to meeting you all!
