Plants that do well in sand?

My next tank is supposed to be a setup with some larger rocks and pool sand in between. I want to plant it, and I would be interested in some information about what plants do well in sand? I have a few spare C. wendtii; would those do well?

Sand isn't really a problem as such for plants, but sand of sufficient depth to anchor plants is likley to become anaerobic, which won't worry plants but can harm animals.

Dats why it's important to do a little gravel vac at strategic places. I know it's difficult with plant tanks but creative planting works wonders. Animals are not threatened.

all plants should do fine. with crypts i would make sure to add root tabs.

I'm still waiting for someone to show me an example of when a sand substrate went anaerobic and killed their fish.

Until then I remain convinced that it's just an overblown paranoia.

And you don't need to vac to prevent it - all it takes is a little stirring with a stick or a some sifting with your fingers every week or so.

Any plant that isn't heavily rooted requires no specific substrate at all. And most heavy rooted plants do perfectly fine in sand. In fact some of mine have done better in sand than even in those "plant" substrates. If you ask my opinion, it's yet another in the series of bs found in this hobby. Remember this always: there was a day only a few decades back when most people were led to believe they should never change their water. Something to keep in mind.

I have never seen any problem with sand. I find that roots systems develop far more extensively with sand than with gravel.
