My friend has a couple in his tank and they seem to do pretty well with his other larger cichlids. I think they're cool, but haven't purchased any. I haven't seen any where I live in a while.

You could probably keep it in there until it outgrows the 29gal (in terms of physical size and aggressive behavior); ultimately it will require a larger tank (75gal+ as these fish, which are actually a Sciaenochromis fryeri, get upwards of 8"). Also, these are a dimorphic species so the females aren't as colorful as the males (gender might not be readily apparent if acquiring one small s. fryeri).
Sciaenochromis ahli is a malawi haplochromine and should be kept therefore with other malawis. It requires a larger tank than yours; they will hit 7 inches in size. They'e very intolerant of similarly coloured fish.
'Electric Blue' usually refers to Sciaenochromis Fyeri commonly (wrongly ?) called Hap Ahli which is far more attractively coloured and hits similarly size. This is probably the fish you are asking about.
It is again a very aggressive fish especially to conspecifics which requires a large tank to keep more than one specimen, and a larger tank than yours even for just the one, in my Opinion.
