Right.. first pictures.. the boring stuff first as we don't get the actual tank till tomorrow...

So the first pictures are of the cabinet and sump.

(why are cabinets so hard to put together?) this one was a nightmare as the instructions were useless! hey ho, the joys of fish keeping.

anyway this is the cabinet nearly done, one door left to do which was done last night by my husband.. and no the tank will not be staying near the windows, we have to move the old tank before we can move this one...

second and third pictures are of the sump, not too clear I know..

But a question for all you sumpers.. our sump has 4 compartments, the first one has the divider and the water flows underneath it into the next compartment. We wanted to use compartments 2 & 3 for a DSB, but we can't as the sand will block the flow from the first compartment and leak back into it as well???? any ideas anyone what's best set up for this type of sump design.

Thanks

can anyone help?

It looks like in the pics that the first section is the skimmer section then the water goes under the first piece of glass then over the next piece into a larger compartment and then the same thing to another compartment then just over a piece of glass to the return if this is the case then I would put things in in the order I put it in above. First goes the skimmer next macro then sand and rock then the return. I hope this makes sence and I am seeing the pics correctly

yes that's right, all sections are all the same size though, first section yes we were going to put the skimmer in, but the water goes under to the next section which means can't really put sand in there? leaves the next section for sand, then last for the return, can you put rock in the return? suppose you could? just seems weird to me and can't get my head round it LOL

I would just put the sand and some LR in together because if you put LR in with the return pump that leaves alot less water in the return section and evaperation will be very rapid so I would just have the return in the last section and nothing else.

right ok, and just one section then with a dsb and some rock?

the return will be in the last section as per the tank instructions anyway

Looks shinny and new! I love black stands :)

Thanks Featherduster....
here's the tank now.. it looks so huge compared to our old tank!!! :eek3:
Now to all the setting up!! any advice greatly received
