I have 26g bow front and its fairly on the deep end rather than long, so I have a lot of empty space above the rocks and low lying plants. I would like something to break this space up, something tall. I'd like it to not need additional CO2, but I fear that the taiwan moss & java ferns I have now maybe taking up the available CO2.
Any suggestions?

Most stem plants will grow plenty tall without needing additional CO2 or ferts. Broadleaf ludwigia, Hygrophila polysperma, anacharis, rotala indica all grow pretty much as tall as the tank will allow. Vals are another one that get tall. i have all this and more growing in my 55 with about 2wpg and no additional ferts/co2.

is there enough room in the back to add some terraced steps? If you haven't found stem plants that you like (or other tall plants) you could redo the hardscape a little to bring more height to it.

There isn't enough room to do any terrace, it'll have to be a stemmed plant. I just need to choose the best for my setup.

you might also consider hanging a small clear ledge from the top with some willow moss hanging from it... will eventually droop to form a wall of moss.

are you against fake plants?
are any of your shorter plants stem plants?
you could make do with fake plants until your shorter stem plants get a chance to grow up to fill the void

I only have some java fern and taiwan moss, and yeah I am not much of a fan of the fake plants, I even have a tall silk plant that is collecting dust.
