I am 5 days into fishless cycling of a 30 gal. and a 10 gal. At first I was adding ammonia at a rate of 5 drops for every 10 gal. every day. By the fourth day I learned that you were only supposed to get it to 5 ppm and then wait till it hit 0. So now I am just waiting and checking my ammonia readings waiting for it to begin to drop. My problem is that when I take a reading, I can't really tell what the levels of ammonia are reading. I use the Quick Dip strips and also have tried using the Tetratest Laborrett and have an easier time reading the Tetratest. I added a Seachem Ammonia Alert card to the tank and it too does not match any readings. Can anyone help me with this? I will be happy to provide any information needed to better help you answer the problem.
