I was scooping some newborn guppies out of my pond and got this lil guy.
He is so small that the baby guppies could have eaten him.. and idea what he might be? I have goldfish and koi in the pond.. but he looks to small to be one(and isn't this a little late in the year?), any idea on what he might be, and what to feed him?
Thanks

Unless I got the flakes to a fine powder, yes, he's too small.. I'll try some though.

might be mosquito fish or minnow fry, do any birds go in your pond and is there any nearby pools of water? Moquito fish can withstand living in ditches, small ponds, etc., so a bird could have trapped some fry in it's feathers and come to your pond. Leeches and plants come that way, even tadpoles once in a blue moon, so I don't see why some curious little fry couldn't.

Yip, it is goldfish fry. Yes they are tiny. I usually find them accidently in my pond. Usually when I am messing with my lillies. I don't feed them anything. They will do just fine with the plants, bugs and algae in the pond. As they grow they will eat the left overs that the parents miss. You will be surprised at how fast they grow. The ones in my pond grow twice as fast as tank raised. Probably due to the natural food supply.

Seeing how this post was from last fall you should have a good idea by now what kind of fish it was.

Word of warning. Goldfish breed like rabbits. At least for me they do. Every year I end up giving away 2 or 3 dozen babies. My fish will start breeding once the water warms up to around 70. Around here that is usually around April. There have been a few times I have had them spawn late march on the unusually warm days. I will continue to find new babies all the way up to Late September.

That is a guppy fry that was just born!!!. It is a feeder guppy fry and not a fancy guppy fry.
