Lighting for coral

is 260 watts enough for a 55 gal to grow most coral?

What kind of lighting, and what kind of bulbs? The wattage sounds good for most, but the color of the bulb makes a big difference as well.

2-65 watt Actinic and 2-65 watt 10,000K

That should be fine for most soft corals and LPS. I wouldn't recommend SPS corals under PC lighting - MH is the way to go if you are considering this direction.
