Alright, I'm sure I could find the answer to my question by doing a google search and clicking a few links, but I'd rather ask you guys. A while ago I had a mystery snail and some ghost shrimp. They seemed to get along fine until one day the snail was just an empty shell and my shrimp were all AWOL. I have still not found any trace of them to this day. Do shrimp eat snails? And then die from over eating? Maybe? I don't know..... I want to have both at the same time! SNAILS AND SHRIMP!!! Is it possible?

Never raised ghost shrimp, but it is certainly possible to have a couple hundred cherries, with one large mystery snail and a gazillion pond and ramshorn snails, just ask my tank! LOL!

Sounds like you had water issues and both your snail and shrimp were affected. One would only eat the other if it had died. You should not have problems housing both shrimp and snails. I have kept ghost shrimp, cherry shrimp and Amino shrimp with a variation of pond snails, apple snails, ramshorn snails, mystery snails and trumpet snails.

I know that I had a half dozen ghost shrimp in my tank, and the mystery snail ate everyone of them... They may have been sick, or there could have been water quality issues, but I watched it eat 2 or 3 of them, still "kicking".

I can not speak for apple snails. But I have a tank that houses adult size red ramshorn snails and malaysian trumpet snails along with cherry shrimp. I have yet to notice any problems with them coexisting in the tank. I know apple snails are much larger, so I am not sure about them.
