I have been in the hobby since 1998 and now want to try new things. I was told to try to breed goldfish. Can anyone tell me how to breed goldfish and angels and other.

Actually, we do not breed them. We just provide the right conditions for them to thrive and they do the rest.

Seriously, each species is a bit different. And each could fill a book on details. Maybe you should consider buying a species specific book for each species you want to try. Or get it at your local library. Only problem there is that you will have to read it for the fish. They tend to be illiterate.

You have an established tank?
Buy swordtails or platies or guppies or any other live bearer at a 1 male 3 female ratio. Provide plenty of hiding spaces for the fry. All done.

If you'd like to try and have more complicated species, I agree, buy/borrow a book and read up.

There are no shortcuts, you'd be amazed at what you can find online if you just run a google search. There is also a good bit of information on wikipedia and wikibooks about goldfish breeding.

if you want to breed goldfish you'll need a very lar age tank (several hundred gallons) you'll also need a chiller. you'll also need a male and a female.

each fish is different.. they all need different situations and set-ups to breed. the easiest is livebearers (guppies, swordtails, mollys, etc)

yea i had some mollys and i wasn't even trying to breed them and low and behold about a week after buying them we saw fry and they were poppin out like crazy, so like has been said before they are so easy to breed you almost can't stop them.

Thanks for all the advice. I have already bread mollies. I have even had bettas spawn and betta fry. They didnt survived. But My mollie babies are with me. I wanted to try goldfish.

Can anyone tell me how to put my images on this page.

Swordtails are not easy to breed! lol Then again I only 1 male and 1 female but they seem attached to each other and like each other and protect each other.

4 years ago I had 2 pair of goldfish. During spring one day I noticed that the aquarium water(14 US gallon) turned cloudy white. So I was changing water that I noticed that small balls all over the gravel and plants. Then I realised that they were eggs but alas! All the water in the tank was already gone down with the drain and the gravel were turned up side down to clean the underwater filter. I guess the cloud water was due to sperm of 2 males. I dont have those goldfish anymore but I bought new ones and and have one for 4 years and one for 3 and have 2 for 2 and half years.
