I bought 7 yoyo loaches for my 75 gallon aquarium today. They're the only fish in the tank. I noticed that they seem to be taking turns......a few of them rummage throught he gravel looking for food while the others swim up and down the back/sides of the tank (the highest the go is midway up). Then they switch, the loaches that were rummaging start to swim up and down while the ones that were swimming start to rummage. Is this normal behavior?

Yoyo loaches are really curious fish. Im sure their behavior will mellow out after a while.

I would suggest buying a few pieces of PVC pipe and keeping them in the tank, as they love to play and hide in them.

Yo-Yo's are great. As mentioned, they are EXTREMELY curious fish. Unfortunately, I didn't know any better and I only bought 1 a while back. Almost immediately I learned they are communal fish. Since then I've been looking for more, but have yet to find any. 7 seems like such a nice number. I love these guys.

Here's a pic of their tank. Should I add more hiding places? Or is the plants and drift wood good enough.

Hmmm, not to bad. I'm not a yoyo expert so I cant say any more for certain. Bt if it were me, I'd try to squeze in a more cave like decor in there somewhere if you could, like a pvc tube or two, or some other form of cave. But it doesnt look bad at all. Good luck with the loaches.

BTW I am working on some pvc caves right now for my loaches (mainly clowns) and will try coating the outside of the tube with silicone and sprinkling sand (the same as the substrate) on it so it blends in (a chunk of white tube IMO would stand out like a sore thumb in my natural like planted tank). Actually I'll be using ABS which is black so the inside of the tube wont stand out so much either. Not sure if you want to try something like that, but figured I'd mention it.
