Is that grassy looking thing beneath the end of the heater "Mondo Grass"? (frequently sold by PetSmart)
If so, it isn't aquatic and won't last more than ~2 months...
Sorry.

Mine has been going on 5 months with new growth. It shouldn't be considered a permanent part of the aquascape unless you can plan on taking it out every couple of months or so for a day or 2 to get air to the roots, then replant. I get a burst of growth every time I do this. I use the time I take it out to trim off the dead stuff.
I've been thinking of planting it in a small clay pot to make it easier to perform the airing out. I would just have to remove pot and all and return it to the tank after a couple of days. If I can find a piece of driftwood for this I think it would look better but I can figure it out in another month or so when it's due for the next airing.

Edit: That plant in question looks more like sagittaria to me... what is it Blu?

Sweet set-up Blue! keep us updated as I'm interested in the plant growth with the sand substrate. I've never tried with sand b4...
