if you tie it on with a piece of cotton string it will be on by the time the string deteoriates :D

About three weeks. I have had some trouble attaching various things but only because they would get bumped or moved some. IF you tie it on well enough, some attachment occurs within the first month.

Unless your thread is 300 years old like mine- in which case the plants will be floating the next morning

I'm not a seamstress :D
When I got married my husbands father gave me a stocked antique sewing box that his mother had given him- it looks old enough to have come over from Ireland with the original bunch of 'em. Lots of black thread.

At any rate I spent the greater part on an afternoon "sewing" java ferns, boblitis, anubias etc to three pieces of driftwood. I worked my little heart out arranging them in a most artistic and perfectly designed display.
They were all floating when I came in the next day.
Enter fishing line.

I used some seemingly "normal" black thread (nothing spectacular) and after more than 3 months some of it is still holding firm! Actually, I don't think any of it has broken yet.
