breeding tilapia in 55g? help=]

i want to get 3 6in tilapia from a local makert to raise and breed.
has anyone bred tilapia and i am planning on putting them in a 55 gallon tank with a a five inch common pleco

I may be wrong, but I don't think a 55 gal will be big enough. Especially with a common pleco in it.

Any idea what species of Tilapia you're getting?

That might be a little small for the "commercial" tilapia, which I'm guessing are hybrids of larger species. You might get away breeding one of the relatively smaller species like Tilapia joka, but even that might be a stretch I imagine.
