What was the reason for the change ?
I personally like the white sand , (that's what I have), but the gravel looks ok.
I always have better luck with keeping sand clean verses gravel where the detrius gets down into the gravel.
I just set up a temporary 10 with the gravel for plants , it's to dark for my liking.

well i liked the sand but i just could not look at the fish poop every day. I was cleaning the tank every 2 days. Just to make it look pretty. Im no neat freak, but that was just anoying the hell out of me. And that was only 5 fish in the tank. i cant think of how it would looked well stocked.

I like it both ways but who wants a "showcase" for fish poop, LOL, the black will keep this issue more discreet.

8) I agree though that switching the substrate is one messy and tiring job. It looks like the dog had a better idea......

i like the sand, but the rocks and fish *pop* more with the dark gravel.. i've heard that darker gravel will make the fish more vibrant

eh i like sand its true the poo does just sit on the top but i did the same thing i had red gravel in a 30 and switched it to sand andi like it was more i say you could of got te powersweep power heads not to expincive and got rid of te dead spots on the sand

The darker gravel will work better with the fish poo, but I think sand looks better. In the end though, the switch is probly for the best, so you're not cleaning twice a week.
