Hi - first post here - decided to get into this and bought a 29g biocube already up and running from someone who needed to sell it. Its a nice tank with live rock, 2 clowns, 2 yellow gobies, lots of crabs, and some green polypy things -

question: There are three lights on the biocube - the white, the blue and the blue leds.

i want to put the lights on a timer - what are the recommendations for how long each type of light should be on - any suggestions would be welcome

also any suggestions on good fish to add would be great

Hi there and Welcome to AC Bocastork...

For me...

Actinics from 11am to 10pm
Main Whites from 12 till 5pm
Moonlight if you have them, on from the end of the actinic lighting ( 9:50pm ) till the morning, say, 7:00am...

Just a suggestion as its one of the main area's of marine systems that everyone has their own way to do it...

Niko's plan sounds pretty good, although I'd be inclined to leave the main whites on a bit longer...but like he said, that's personal preference.

On the moonlights, if you don't feel like buying a 3rd timer, you can just run them 24/7. Those bulbs last forever.

:)

i have a 29 bio-cube as well. the moonlights are on all the time. i manually turn on the actinics at about 9 am and they stay on till about 9 pm. the whites go on about an hour after the actinics and go off about an hour before the actinics at night. as far as fish go you are maxed out as is. the total gallons (swimming room) is probably closer to about 22 gallons (cause of the filter area in the back).
