wanting to upgrade my lighting right now I have 2 15watt 24" lights on the tank. While I'm at this should I get a retokit kit? It is a fowlr but wanting to do some soft corals and maybe some poylps if possible. Could I just buy some new bulbs and be on my way? Any suggestions would be great. Would like to have something with moon leds, or can you buy those seperate.

you would have to change out the ballasts...it would be alot easier just to buy a new setup--try finding a used one

If I did go woth new hoods would I look for two 24's or 1 48" or a 36"

lol um well it depends what size is ur tank?? if its a 48" tank get 1 48 i belive the bulbs are cheaper then getting 2 24's and a 36 lol if u have 2 24's why the heck would u get a 36 lol..and as far as types...get what you can afford and for what you wanna get...i have power compacts and i like em but i would love metal halides...but if i were you take the best you can afford then save up for the next best...

I have a 48" but on one web site they were saying I could get away with a 36" so I thought that I would ask. I have a tank support in the middle would this affect anything?

i could be wrong but i dont see how a 36 would fit...do u remember wat site thatwas from i would just get a 48 it would be cheaper in lights in the long run

don't remember the site it sounded a little odd to me also. For what I want to do I think that halides would be over kill so maybe some vho's or t5's. Any suggestions on brands?
