Just a quick question here, im setting up a 2 foot South American(ish) tank and am looking for a south american pleco that wont grow much bigger then 4". I know that its mostly corys that inhabit south american waters but i much prefer the look of the pleco family.

Thanks.

i know bristlenose get a bit bigger but they are nice lookin plecos that get only 5-6" im pretty sure and they take ages to get to that size

Oh wow lol i didnt realise that bristlenose's were south american :p thanks for pointing that out element.

Aren't all plecos south/central american?

Awesome, thats a great looking cat, and after reading that page looks like a very good candidate :) Now to go asking the lfs about ordering me a few.

These are chameleons too so if you have a dark substrate they'll look a lot better. Mine tends to wash out when its on my aquatic soil but it looks great on driftwood.

I was thinking all plecos were SA/CA too but I wasn't confident enough to be the first to say it... lol....
