So I'm a total doorknob and only bought one Ocellaris clown instead of a pair this past weekend. I immediately regretted it that afternoon.
Obviously, I choked:D
Is it possible to add another a week later and have them get along?Or am I doomed to only one? This one seems to get along great with the chromis.
His name is Shakes, btw. Shakes the Clown.
Thanks!!

you are totally fine...

i originally added two (not a mated pair) to my 30gal tank.. but then noticed 1 was sick so i put him in quarantine by himself for like 2 or 3 weeks.

when i put him back in the display with the other clown they got along totally fine.

you should be totally fine getting another within a couple weeks if not even longer...

Yeah, as long as they are little guys, they should pair up no problem (as long as you get another of the same variety).

I hate to be the gloom-and-doom type but I bought a second and they hated each other--they got along for about a week and then the larger one started chasing and biting the smaller one. I let it go for a few days but eventually took the newbie out. I hope it works out for you, but if you buy a second make sure you have a backup plan if things don't work out.

i think it should work for you. but i dont know in a small tank like yours they might run into eachother at every turn =)

I believe a fight after a while is inevitable as one changes from male to female. The female always beats the crap out of the male until dominance is complete, then the get along.

Dude's got a 210.

He could probably put two pairs in there if he did it right, and never have an issue.

This is quite common really..All that is happening there is the dominant one is simply stamping the authority onto the other...establishing a pecking order..its nothing to worry about..

Well, there's also my concern about overstocking:D

Well, this guy is quite docile. He even hangs out at the top of the tank and I can drop food to him...maybe this is common, but it's new for me....quite cool.
I'm gonna try it and let you know how it works.
Thanks for all the input!!:)

Robbie with the size of your tank you could probably get away with more than 2.. You should be fine.. If you have a question just try to find a smaller juvi than the one you have.. Mine still bicker with each other. My true perc has to re-establish that she is the boss at least once a day.. (why does that sound so familiar).. ;)

The pecking order thing is kinda funny. My Damsel does it to every fish the first day we have them. Then after that all is good. However when I got my clown he picked on the Damsel from time to time to let him know whats up.

:D:D:D
I did find one that is a little smaller than this one...we'll see what happens. The chromis still dart at each other quite often but for the most part they get along pretty well. The clown pays no attention to them at all.

I expected that the largest chromis would be da boss but it's actually one of the smaller ones of the five that keeps the rest in line:nutkick:. It's very interesting to watch...as long as they don't tear each other up.
Thanks!

Yeah, my damsel is one of the smaller of the bunch. At least I know he isn't just playing favorites because he attacks anything I put in the tank. Net, Algae scraper, my arm. LOL.

LOL.. My False Perc was like that for a while.. Now he pretty much ignores anything but livestock..

My LFS has several tanks of blue damsels....boy they're vicious little buggers! They didn't seem to be picking on just one...all of them looked a little ragged. They sure are pretty....but wow.
Are they less mean if you add one or two last? I'm not getting any...just curious.

From what I have read the only time they really arn't agressive is when they are crammed together and don't have any space to be territorial over like at the LFS. However it sounds like at your LFS they fight anyways. They are great looking fish but come with a price haha.
