Hey guys.

Just lost a bi-color angel that I have only had for 2 days. But I have lost a juvi Blue Tang of late as well.

My Nitrate reads fine. I havn't changed water for about 2 weeks because I hurt my back and have been able to lift much.

Anyhow, why am I loosing fish. Each time I find them, my Sally Light Foot has got hold of them. Is he the problem, because he will get smashed into pieces if so. He is pretty big now.

Does anyone know the problem. I have a 75g FOWLR, about 60lbs of live rock.

I'm shattered because he was a beautiful fish.

What are the rest of your water parameters?

What other fish do you have in there?

I've tested for everything other than copper and it's all fine.

I have a foxface lo in there, and he has been in the for a few months now, happy as larry.

My Sally Light Foot is fairly big, probably 4-5 inches across. I feel he may be the culprit.

We really do need a full run down of Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate pH and SG at least to be able to help you with this..Post the actual results as soon as you can for us.

The sally is probalby just doing what its supposed to and that is to scavenge..I dont think that is your problem, however, nothing is 100% certain.

Have you scanned the tank after lights out for other predators?

Niko

Ammonia is nil, Nitrite is absent, Nitrates are at 0, Ph is between 8.1 and 8.4.

I havn't scanned the tank after lights, but all I have in there now is a foxeface lo, hermits, 3 figthing conch's I just got the same day as the angel, some stars and the sally light foot who seems to be getting bigger and bigger.

I just can't figure out the problem. You'd think if there was a water problem the foxface would have problems and he has been in the tank for a couple of months and seems happy.

How long ago did the tang die?

Were all the fish from the same place?

Was anything visably seen wrong with the tang?

Has the sally always eaten the bodys?

The tang died about 1 month back.

He was very small. But he was fine as it seemed, and I went and had a shower and came out and saw him in the clutches of the sally light foot. So i spooked the crab off, got him free and put him into me other tank. He was pretty banged up, and I feel the shock finished him off. He may have been a little sluggish, but seemed ok.

The fish were from different stores.

I noticed earlier today that my angel wasn't out, and I looked around, and found the crab with him, the eyes had been completely eaten out.

I also lost a chromis a while back. I had had him in the tank for a long time. Found him on the bottom as well, looked as thought eh crab had had a dip at him.

I've also noticed a lot of hair grass has sprung up on the LR lately.

Thank for your help.

I have been told by many that they can become a problem when they get bigger and that is why I havent added one to my tank. I copied this off from LiveAquaria
It prefers a strong current and will require a large aquarium with large amounts of rock work where it can hide and scavenge for detritus. It will also eat algae. When large, it can become aggressive and catch and eat small invertebrates and fish.

How did you acclimate your angel? My LFS guy told me that if a fish dies the second day after introduction a likely cause can be not enough time acclimating. But a large sally shouldn't be counted out.

Between 30-45 mins floating on top, adding tank water to the bag.
