Hey there salties !

I'm going to set up a small-medium tank in my office. That would mean that I would be seeing it 5 days a week, where I am or am in and out of from about 8:00am to 8:00pm or so some days, more likely until around 7:00pm.

I've never done marine - is this a silly idea i.e. would I be better to stay with what I know on the basis that I won't be around 24/7 and won't be in most weekends ?

All your help appreciated.

If its not a crazy plan, what would you do with a tank size of say 60 - 120 litres, standard dimensions...I'll do the 120 if that's a better option in general.

$ - FOWLR w/ DSB, pistol shrimp/goby pair, dottyback, whatever grows on your rock w/ the lighting you have - done. Add power heads as needed for circulation and a canister filter w/ rock rubble & a pad (to be frequently yanked, rinsed, returned) to help compensate for lack of skimmer/sump/pump etc.).

$$$ - the larger tank option w/ a MH light, LR w/ some nice coral frags, a pair of (small) clowns & an anenome, asstd. shrimp and all the stuff left out of the cheap option.

Just my initial thoughts...

It has been done before yes. I'm rather glad I didn't go that route first though, and learned at home where I could get a better appreciation for how the tank works and what goes on in it after lights off.

If you still want to do it, I'd suggest going with a reef ready tank at the very least to at least eliminate the worries of flooding and such.

SW does require much closer attention than FW though. It will take up a lot of your time. I can't possibly imagine having this thing in my office and expecting to get anything done throughout the day .

Just a thought :)
