granted, they like to hide, but one of my kuhlis has been under a favorite hiding spot for going on two days now. All that is sticking out is a tail, which has an odd "splotch" on the kuhli's body just before it. It's like one of the black bands got partially rubbed off, just an odd white splotch I've never noticed before. It doesn't really look like a wound, per se, or a growth of fungas. But I've never really seen a sick kuhli before, so I don't know if it would look the same on one as it would other fish. Anyone had something like this before?

By the way, it did turn around and look out a little this morning, so I know it's not dead. It just seems to be hanging out in the one location without moving much, and the splotch coupled with that could mean something. Just curious.

Remove the decor just long enough to get a good look at him. This way you can check to see what the rest of him looks like and medicate if necessary. Either way he needs to heal and will need super clean water.

Can you get a pic for us?

Is this a black or banded?

My guys sometimes get scraped up trying to stuff themselves into tight spaces, my clown loaches do this as well.

He seems fine now. I've watched him for a few days and the spot just seems to be a little bit of fading on one of his black bands. I think it may either just be a natural thing or from where he scraped himself. I've not been able to notice anything else on him that seems odd, and he's moved on to other things now. One thing I've noticed, they tend to get in a rut. They'll pick something they like to do, or a place they like to be, and they will do it for a week or so, and then they will move on to something else and repeat the process. I think he was just digging the spot he was in.

The white splotch just kinda worried me.

I'll try to get a pic if I can, but it will be hard. They're not th easiest fellows to get to pose for you :)

No, they don't pose often, only when you are not looking, lol.

Glad that he seems ok!
