I went to bed last night with 3 ghost shrimp in my tank, and this morning I woke up and couldnt find but 1, so 2 of them are missing. I dont know what happened to them, I put them in their about 3 days ago. I have looked everywhere, only thing I could think of is that the striped raphel ate them, but who knows, since they are clear and so tiny but I have looked all day to only find one. Any ideas?

the catfish could have eaten them, or they could be hiding. Do you have sponge over your filter intake? If not, check in your filter, i found cherry shrimp inside my canister box before I had put sponges over my intakes.

Definitly check the filter. I have had three get sucked up my in tank filter (my penguin HOB has small enough slits so they don't get sucked in). I made the mistake of dumping the contents of the filter into the sink only to watch my still alive shrimp go down the drain. Take off your filter and dump the contents into a glass jar to see if you have living shrimp in there. If so get some filter floss or a spong and put over the intake. I find cheap filter floss and zip ties work best for me.

Just don't forget to re-fill the filter with tank water before turning on again.

Well I checked my filter, when I cleaned it out yesterday and could not find them, I woke up this morning to still find that one. Dont make no since how two disappear and one is still alive, I have looked everywhere but could not find them. That could cause my ammonia to spike if both of them shrimp died in my 10gal right? I hope not because them two little 26 cent ghost shrimp could kill all of my other fish, if the ammonia spikes.right?

I dont think those 2 little shrimp will do anything to the ammonia or anything els. How big is the tank that you put the shrimp in? Do you have any plants in there? I have a 10 gallon tank and got 5 then a few days latter they all disappeared!! Then i still didnt see them for a few days then one day i found them all! They made a nice home in one of my decorations! I think that the shrimp are way to small to make ammonia. If they really are dead the other shrimp will just eat them up.

Ok, they are in the 10gal. tank with the fish listed below plus one ghost shrimp that I have manage to find. Its been about a day and a half and I just checked my ammonia level and its still at 0ppm so thats good news. So who knows, but I have checked just about everywhere, but they could be in there just couldnt see them since they are so small and clear, lol.

Btw, Coral, 2 dead shrimp is enough to make a tremendous ammonia spike. I was worried with the amount of dead snails (natural causes, had hundreds) in my 30g.
